When I found this, I had no idea what it was, but thought it was cool looking.  Here is what I found out about it:

 

This is a Cory Filter Rod made of pressed glass which is crystal clear and is in pristine condition. The rod says Cory Filter Rod US Patent 1927237 and Pat Des 114097. This is a part of coffee history. "A major innovation in filter design was the patented Glass Filter Rod sold by the Cory Company. A glass rod with a textured, bulbous center was the model of simplicity, yet made an effective and easily cleaned filter for vacuum pot brewing." The rod is approximately 5.5 inches long.
